ICC Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah became the No.1 ODI bowler after his sensational spell of 6 for 19 against England at The Oval, while Suryakumar Yadav was rewarded for his 117 in the third T20I against England to be ranked No.5 among T20I batters.
Jasprit Bumrah stormed to No.1 in the ICC rankings for ODI bowlers after his haul of 6 for 19 in the first ODI against England at The Oval on Tuesday.
Bumrah climbed three places to occupy the top spot. New Zealand's Trent Boult is ranked No.2 after sliding down from the numero uno position, while Shaheen Afridi of Pakistan slipped down to No.3.
The Indian pacer was on the money during the first ODI against England on Tuesday as he ran through the English batting order. Jason Roy was Bumrah's first wicket of the day and he dismissed Joe Root in the same over.
The Indian pacer also sent the dangerous Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone back to the pavilion and ended the day with an impressive six-wicket haul in 7.2 overs while conceding just 19 runs. England were bundled out for just 110 runs in 25.2 overs.
The Indian openers didn't take much time to chase down the score as the visitors took the lead in the series.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a sensational 117 in the third and final T20I against England on Sunday, entered the top-10 of the ICC rankings for T20I batters. He jumped 44 places to become No.5 in the rankings. Yadav is currently the highest-ranked Indian on the list with Ishan Kishan in 12th being the next one.
India lost the rescheduled fifth Test match against England but have been in superb form in the shorter formats. After winning the T20I series 2-1, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
