‘I forgive them’: Sambit Patra after Congress activists throw ink at his car

A few activists of the National Students' Union of India (the student wing of Congress) threw black ink at BJP leader Sambit Patra's vehicle as a protest against rising fuel prices in Odisha's Puri.

BJP Leader Sambit Patra was in Puri to protest against the Puri Heritage Project when NSUI activists threw ink at his car near Jhadeswari Chhak on Wednesday.

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) is the student wing of the Indian National Congress.

ASI had submitted an affidavit in the high court that clearly mentioned it has not given permission for any type of excavation or construction work in the 100-metre prohibited area around the Jagannath Temple. Patra strongly condemned the state government for construction activity at the temple periphery and was in Puri to protest against the same.

The BJP leader was returning from Puri when NSUI activists threw black ink on his vehicle and also hurled black flags as a mark of protest against the rising inflation and hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders.

Talking to India Today, Sambit Patra said, “I forgive them. The Congress party neither has any leader nor the intention of serving the people. But we have, so I forgive them.”

In another development, the SDJM Court has directed to file a case against the Puri Collector, Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) and Tata Projects, while hearing a petition over the ongoing Shree Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor Project in the pilgrim town.
