An angry mob set a police station ablaze in Nagaon district of Assam on Saturday. The district administration, on Sunday, demolished the houses of culprits involved in the incident. Here is a timeline of what has happened till now.
Nagaon authorities in Assam, on Sunday, May 22, demolished houses of several families who were allegedly involved in setting Batadrava Police Station on fire.
The step was taken by the authorities after a mob had set fire to a part of the Batadrava Police Station following an alleged case of custodial death of a local resident.

- Safiqul Islam, a resident of Salonibari, was on his way to Sivasagar district on Friday night for a business trip when the Batadraba Police stopped him and demanded Rs 10,000 and a duck from him.
- When Safiqul failed to meet their demands, the police officers took him to Batadraba police station and asked him to call his family members to arrange the money and the duck.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
