Hooda questions anti-people policies of BJP-JJP govt. in Haryana

He questions the skyrocketing prices of fuel, electricity and fertilizer

Leader of Opposition in Haryana State Assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday questioned what he termed as the anti-people policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-Jannayak Janata Party government, resulting in rising fuel prices, costly electricity rates, hike in fertilizer rates, unemployment and corruption.

Mr. Hooda said the price of petrol and diesel in Haryana were the cheapest in comparison to the neighbouring States during the Congress regimes in Haryana. “Every petrol pump located on the border used to have boards which said fuel was cheaper than other States, but now fuel is more expensive in Haryana as compared to neighbouring States. People of Haryana have to buy fuel at a higher rate,” he said, addressing a press conference here.

“Not only this, the government has increased the rate of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer. Besides increasing the electricity rates, the Haryana government has launched another attack on the household budgets of the middle class. The government is reducing the production of power plants in the State and is putting the burden of inflation on the people by buying expensive power from outside. In order to give relief to the public, free electricity will be provided to poor families and electricity at affordable rates to the middle class, if Congress government is formed in the future,” he said.

Mr. Hooda said that it’s all due to the anti-people policies of the BJP-JJP government that 11.6% or about 30 lakh people in Haryana are living below the poverty line, according to the recent report of NITI Aayog. “Also, according to Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data, Haryana is at the top in the country with the highest unemployment rate of 26.7%,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition said corruption has become uncontrollable in the State due to the indifferent attitude of the coalition government. “Countless scams like mining, liquor, registry and recruitment are being carried out, but the government is running away from the CBI investigation. If the government is clean, why is it not facing high-level probe, who does the government want to save?,” quipped Mr. Hooda.
