Himachal Congress leaders in a hurdle as AAP plans to enter state politics

Congress leaders in Himachal Pradesh met party president Sonia Gandhi to request an early decision on poll committees for the upcoming election. Many leaders within Congress are worried about potential poaching bids by the Aam Aadmi Party.
The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) decision to contest state elections in Himachal Pradesh has left the Congress leadership worried. More so because of the apprehensions that AAP could poach its young leaders.
The fear gained weight after former Youth Congress President Manish Thakur along with his supporters recently joined AAP. There are rumours that more youth leaders could desert Congress soon. State Incharge of Youth Congress and NSUI, Sandeep Kumar has also resigned from Congress and has sought time from Rahul Gandhi.
Many other leaders are reportedly not happy with the internal functioning of the party organisation and have sought a course correction to stop the exodus of party's young leaders.

Sandeep Kumar has been working with the party for the last 36 years. However, he denied claims that he was joining the Aam Aadmi Party.
"I have no plans to join any other party, but we want a course correction before the poll campaign. I have sought time from Rahul Gandhi to discuss the challenges," Sandeep Kumar told India Today.
A total of 21 Himachal Congress leaders including the HPCC President Kuldeep Rathore, Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri and others met party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting, according to the party sources lasted for one and a half hours.
