Further restrictions in Kerala in the wake of the spike in Covid-19 cases will be decided on Thursday, January 20, at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. A lockdown, however, is unlikely.
Since the CM is in the US seeking treatment, he will attend the meeting online. In the cabinet meeting convened on Wednesday, health minister Veena George informed the cabinet that while the spike in cases is high, the number of hospitalisations is less.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
