
High alert sounded in Punjab following deadly clash in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri

Fearing mobilisation of farmers in the wake of the deadly clash in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri, the Punjab government on Sunday declared a state of alert.
A high alert has been sounded in Punjab following the deadly clash that broke out between a group of protesting farmers and the convoy of Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Ajay Misra’s son Ashish Misra in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Will be visiting Lakhimpur Kheri, UP, tomorrow, Monday, alongwith team of officials to have on the spot assessment of situation arising out of the killing of peacefully protesting farmers.I appeal everyone to maintain peace at all costs.I will ensure guilty will be punished. Anguished by the tragic deaths & injuries of protesting farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri, UP.We seek -:1. Immediate removal of Union Minister2. Judicial Inquiry3. Compensation to injured & jobs for families of the deceased farmers.4. Immediate withdrawal of the 3 farm laws. No one is above the law FIR under sec 302 IPC must be registered against Union Minister’s son for murder of innocent farmers, he should be immediately arrested and put behind the bars for this barbaric act !! ‘Thorough probe needed into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. The clash, which claimed eight lives, has drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
