Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hassan district in Karnataka on May 27. Landslips along the Shiradi Ghat stretch of National Highway 75 affected the movement of vehicles.
Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly R. Ashok will be visiting rain-hit areas of Hassan district on May 27. He is scheduled to visit Anemahal, Doddatappalu and other sites where landslips occurred in the afternoon.
The Chikkamagaluru district administration declared a holiday for anganwadis till Wednesday May 28 in taluks that are receiving heavy rains. The administration advised tourists and others to avoid trekking in the district or getting close to rivers.
On May 26, the Dakshina Kannada district administration declared a holiday for all pre-university colleges, schools, and anganwadis in the district up to May 28 in view of heavy rains.
