
Heavy rainfall inundates Karnataka’s Chikkamangaluru; electricity supply disrupted in Kodagu | Videos

Parts of Karnataka’s Chikkamangaluru district and Dakshina Kannada received intense rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. Several water bodies have been overflowing, causing waterlogging in the districts.
A spell of heavy rains on Sunday, July 3, left several parts of Karnataka’s Chikkamnagaluru district inundated. The incessant rainfall over the weekend has resulted in water bodies overflowing and this has caused waterlogging in areas.
The Bhadra river’s catchments in Chikkamangaluru district are also overflowing due to the incessant rains on Saturday and Sunday.
Heavy rainfall also occurred in Kodagu and Sullia taluk in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district.
The roadways to many temples in the Kalasa-Hornadu area have also been blocked.
Heavy rains in Karnataka’s Kodagu district have resulted in landslides occurring in many areas. The electricity supply has also been disrupted in the district.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
