Heavy rain wreaks havoc in Mysuru, causing trees to fall on vehicles and flooding streets, providing relief from summer heat.
Heavy rain pounded parts of Mysuru and surrounding regions on Thursday and threw normal life out of gear.
There were multiple incidents of giant trees falling due to a gale that accompanied the rains, sending people scampering for cover. At least two vehicles were damaged, as the trees came crashing down on them. While a tree damaged a car parked on the JLB Road near MUDA and another tree fell on an SUV on the Dewan’s Road.
The rains commenced around 3 p.m. and lashed for nearly an hour, and low-lying areas witnessed runoff from stormwater drains, flooding the streets. The rains also provided reprieve to the public who were experiencing searing heat during the prolonged summer. Pre-monsoon showers have been continuously lashing the region since early May, and there is a forecast for more rain in the days ahead.
