The Karnataka State disaster response force and police personnel rescued an old woman who was stuck in her house while the town was inundated in Basavana Bagewadi in Vijayapura district on Saturday (June 14, 2025)
Gouravaa Bhuter, 75, was stuck in her house when water entered the Laxmi Nagar area on the outskirts of town following heavy rains. While elderly woman was alone as her children went for work and grandchildren were in school. Police and SDRF rescued the woman and helped her walk out safely.
Residents of houses walked out of their houses after water started entering colonies. The water levels are expected to reduce by afternoon, officers said.
