Heat wave warning issued for interior Odisha districts

The Odisha government issued a heat wave warning for interior pockets while daytime temperature soared past 40 degree Celsius at seven places on in the State Tuesday.
“Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Boudh and Balangir from March 30 to 31 and districts such as Sambalpur, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Boudh, Balangir, Angul and Kalahandi would witness similar condition from March 31 to April 2,” the office of the Special Relief Commissioner said.
In view of a yellow warning issued for these districts, the SRC advised people to keep a close watch on infants, the elderly, and sick people. People have been asked not to step out during the day unless it’s for extremely urgent work.
Titlagarh in Balangir district remained the hottest place, with temperature recorded at 41.5 degree Celsius. Titlagarh was followed by Balangir (41.4 degree Celsius), Subarnapur (41.3 degree Celsius), Boudh and Baripada (41 degree Celsius) and Bhawanipatna and Sambalpur (40.2 degree Celsius).
