
HC urged to direct Bengal govt to file report on withdrawing Suvendu security cover

Suvendu Adhikari, on Monday, prayed before the Calcutta High Court for an order directing the state's Director of Security to file a report on his security cover withdrawal.
Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Monday prayed before the Calcutta High Court for a direction to the Director of Security of the state to file a report on withdrawing his security cover. On a plea by the state Advocate General to respond, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya fixed the matter for further hearing on June 24. Adhikari's counsel prayed before the court that a report be filed by the Director of Security, West Bengal, as to the reason why the security cover of the petitioner was withdrawn by the state on May 18.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
