An excise officer in Haryana was transferred to the department headquarters for reportedly asking a liquor store employee to send scotch whisky bottles for a minister's function.
An excise officer in Haryana was transferred to the department headquarters after an audio in which he was purportedly asking a liquor store employee to send scotch whisky bottles for a minister's function came to the fore. The matter was reported by the liquor store owner to the chief minister's grievance redressal system.
As per PTI reports, in the audio, Excise Department Inspector Sandeep Lohan is purportedly heard asking the liquor store (Bakhtawar Chowk, Sector 47) employee to send six bottles of 15-year-old 'Glenfiddich' whisky to a hotel where a minister was hosting a function. To this, the employer responded that the particular whisky was unavailable, which angered Lohan.
The next day, Lohan reached the store and hurled abuses at the liquor store employee and also forced them to shut the store, said outlet owner Anuj, adding that he raised the issue with the excise commissioner, no action was taken against Lohan.
Anuj was quoted by PTI as saying, "After this, I sent my complaint to CM Window (grievance redressal system), vigilance department, home minister and other officials."
Meanwhile, District Excise and Taxation Commissioner Ravinder Singh confirmed Lohan's transfer to the headquarters in Panchkula. "After the matter came to our notice, the inspector was taken off duty from Gurugram. The case will be investigated by Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer Vijay Kumar and action will be taken as per the inquiry report," Singh said.
