Gurgaon Councillor Ashwani Sharma of ward number 23 suggested shutting of meat and chicken shops in Gurgaon on Tuesday. Under the Municipal Corporation Act, Gurgaon meat shops will now remain closed once a week. In the meeting, it was decided that the meat license fee should be increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 and the amount of challan levied on unauthorized meat vendors should also be increased from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
