Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh will appear before the Kerala Crime Branch officials on Tuesday in a conspiracy case.
Swapna Suresh, the main accused in the gold smuggling case, will appear before the Kerala Crime Branch officials at the police club on July 5. She was summoned by the Kerala Police in a conspiracy case.
Earlier, Swapna Suresh had alleged that the state police want to hinder the ED probe and that is why a conspiracy case has been registered against her. The case was registered over a complaint by former minister KT Jaleel.

Suresh had alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his family members and MLA KT Jaleel were involved in the case.
She had claimed before the media that she had recorded the same in her statement before the court under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. She was released from jail in November, 16 months after her arrest in the case.
On July 5, 2020, customs officials at the international airport in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram seized baggage containing gold weighing over 30 kg and valued at around Rs 15 crore. The gold was inside diplomatic baggage and addressed to the UAE consulate.
Customs officials acted based on a tip off that the baggage was part of a smuggling syndicate trying to misuse the name of a person who enjoys diplomatic immunity.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
