Gautam Gambhir excited to play Legends League cricket: More nervous than I was on my international debut

India Capitals are set to take on Gujarat Giants in the first match of Legends League Cricket. Gautam Gambhir, the captain of Capitals spoke about his emotions ahead of returning to cricket.
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir is set for a return to cricket on Saturday, September 17, when he comes out in the field for India Capitals. The left-hander will be captaining his side against Virender Sehwag’s Gujarat Giants in the Eden Gardens.
Playing in the Legends League Cricket, Gambhir ahead of the match spoke about his feelings and revealed that he was feeling quite nervous about the game.
"I’m pretty nervous. In fact, I am probably way more nervous than I was when I made my international debut because I have not played cricket for a very long time,” Gambhir said in a video released by the team’s social media handles.
He further added that it was a good experience to come back and share the field with players that have competed alongside him in his professional career.
"But it’s exciting because you’ve done that for a very long time. It's always nice to come back and play a game of cricket and a tournament of this level with some of the guys that I’ve played with and against," he said.
A four-team tournament, Legends Cricket League is set to be played till 5 October. Gambhir’s would hope to emulate his Indian Premier League success. Speaking about captaining the side, the player said that it is always a challenge because he demands a lot from himself and his players.
"It is exciting. But at the same time, it’s been a bit challenging as well because captaincy will always be challenging for someone like me who expects a lot of myself and the other players as well."
