Gangster Mukhtar Malik was found dead in Rajasthan's Jhalawar on Friday morning after getting involved in a shootout with a rival gang. Top police sources suspect dehydration to be the cause of death
Madhya Pradesh's dreaded gangster Mukhtar Malik, who had numerous cases registered against him in Bhopal and neighbouring districts, is learnt to have died after a shootout with a rival gang in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday morning.
Malik was involved in a shootout and fracas with a rival gang, who was his one-time business partner Bunty, over a fishing contract at a dam in Jhalawar district on Wednesday. Another person, Kamal, who was part of the fight was found dead the same day.
The cause of death is not yet known but top police sources said that Mukhtar Malik, now in his late 50s could have died due to dehydration. Mukhtar had fled from the spot after the gang war and had been on the run from the rival gang.

On Friday morning, he was found by residents of Kasalkhedi village under Asnawar police station in Jhalawar. They reported the matter to the police who took him to hospital where he died later.
“The exact cause of death would be known only after the post mortem but it seems the searing heat and high temperatures took a toll on him when he was on the run. There does not seem to be any gun shot injury on his body except an old injury on one of his legs,” said a top police official.
Mukhtar Malik had been sold a partnership in a fishing contract at a dam in Rajasthan by one Irshad. However, the other partner Bunty refused to agree to the business deal, police sources said. This dispute was the reason for the gang war between Mukhtar and Bunty on Wednesday.
