East Godavari police arrest five-member gang with 150kg of ganja on National Highway, headed towards Vijayawada. ₹7.5 crore worth seized.

The East Godavari police arrested a five-member gang and seized 150 kilograms of ganja after tracking their vehicle movements on the National Highway near Rajamahendravaram Airport on Tuesday (Marrch 11). The police also seized a car in which the gang was transporting gajna which was reportedly procured on the Andhra-Odisha bordering areas.
Speaking to newsmen at a press conference, East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore said the five-member gang was caught while heading toward Vijayawada City via Rajamahendravaram Airport road. The police found ganja worth ₹7.5 crore packed in 75 bags.
The accused have been identified as Sk. Intiaz and Sk. Abdul Saleem of Prakasam district and S. Buchi Reddi, Murla Chinna Reddi and U. Ravikiran Reddi of Rampachodavaram of Alluri Sitarama Raju district. “The details of the kingpin and their final destination are being investigated,” said Mr. Narasimha Kishore. Rajamahendravaram City North Zone DSP Y. Srikanth led the raid on the gang that chosen the route to Vijayawada via Rampachodavaram.
