Karnataka BJP MLA Abhay Patil led 'Agnihotra homa' procession across his constituency Belgaum South on Tuesday in a bid to eradicate coronavirus.
Karnataka BJP MLA Abhay Patil conducted small havans or 'Agnihotra homa' procession across his constituency Belgaum South on Tuesday in a bid to ward off the evil effects of the novel coronavirus. "In the Hindu culture, we can cleanse the environment by performing havan. It has also been proven. In Belgaum South, women and youth are performing havan in front of their homes. It is taking place at 50 places. Ghee, coconut and rice are being used," Belgaum South MLA Abhay Patil said. Abhay Patil carried out the 'Agnihotra homa' procession along with several other people who were seen flouting social distancing norms. A video of the event went viral on social media wherein some people can be seen wearing masks and face shields, but flouting social distancing protocol.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
