
Former Tamil Nadu minister booked for rape after actor lodges complaint

The actress, in her complaint, alleged that former AIADMK minister M. Manikandan was in a relationship with her for five years under the pretext of marrying her and sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Former AIADMK minister M Manikandan has been booked for rape based on a complaint lodged by a Tamil actor. The actor has accused the former minister of cheating her on the pretext of marriage. Besides rape, Chennai's Adyar All Women Police have also booked Manikandan under IPC sections entailing criminal intimidation, miscarriage without women’s consent and voluntarily causing hurt. The actor, in her complaint, alleged that Manikandan was in a relationship with her for five years.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
