Forest department launches operation to capture suspected leopard in tunnel at Madanthakode, Kasaragod; officials suspect it's a wild cat.
The Forest department has launched an operation after residents reportedly spotted a leopard inside a tunnel in a private land at Madanthakode in Kuttikole panchayat in Kasaragod on Wednesday evening.
However, officials suspect that it is more likely to be a wild cat than a leopard.
To prevent the animal from escaping, the department has placed a cage at the entrance to the tunnel. Efforts are also on to bring the animal out using a tranquiliser dart.
The tunnel is part of a water supply system. The department is yet to issue an official statement.
