Work on five road projects with a total length of 255 km in Ladakh, close to the Line of Actual Control, has started and will be a boost for both the military and civil population even as tensions with China continue in the region.
Construction of the 26.6-km Hanuthang-Handanbroke-Zungpal-Turtuk road will enhance connectivity to the Shyok Valley. The Chinese have in the past objected to Indian infrastructure in Shyok, which was one one of the reasons that led to the standoff that started last May.
