Five workers died and three other were injured in a mishap in a fish processing factory under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru Special Economic Zone late on April 17, according to Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar.
The Commissioner said a labourer collapsed while loading waste at the factory, which comes under Bajpe police station limits. Seven of his colleagues went to help him. During the rescue effort, four others also died and three were injured. The injured workers have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. They are in the intensive care unit.
