Defying COVID-19 norms against mass gathering, a large number of villagers from in and around Tiruvadavur near Madurai participated in a fishing festival on Friday late evening. Now that the fish were big enough, men, women and children joined in the fishing festival to catch them. Some used fishing nets and others used saris or dhotis and caught catla (carp), kendai (rohu), kezhuthi (cat fish), viraal (murrel) and others.

The student from GVHSS, Atholi (Kozhikode), was applauded loudly for his rendering of the timeless ghazal sung originally by Mehdi Hassan.
