Five people were sent to hospital, including one person with life-threatening injuries, after a fire broke out at a fraternity house near Western University prompting a police investigation.
Emergency crews arrived at the Pi Kappa Alpha house at the corner of Richmond and Cheapside streets shortly before midnight Tuesday, London police Sgt. Matthew Dawson said.
London Fire Department Platoon Chief Gary Mosburger said an accelerant and wrapping paper were involved in the fire, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
The severity of the injuries varied, according to police, but paramedics confirmed one person is in critical condition.
The damage is estimated to be less than $1000, and London police said Thursday they're continuing to investigate.

When the Métis Nutcracker opens this weekend in St. Catharines, Ont., playwright Matthew MacKenzie hopes the audience will get swept away in the magical realism of the show – while also learning about colonialism, the war in Ukraine and the cultures of several Indigenous communities from Turtle Island.
