Arjun Singh quit the BJP and returned to TMC on Sunday. Speaking exclusively to India Today, he said he had felt unwelcome in the BJP and party leaders did not let him work.
Days after leaving the BJP and returning to the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), MP Arjun Singh said the West Bengal unit of the saffron party had not allowed him to work and he had felt unwelcome.
Speaking exclusively to India Today, he said, “We had joined BJP to work. After winning for them, they gave a post but did not let us work. We were made to feel that we were not welcome in the BJP.”
“I couldn’t sit and do nothing. All this was done by the state unit of the party. Numerous times I told central BJP about the issues but they did not react,” he added.
Arjun Singh also said that there are many others in the BJP who are unhappy, but refrained from taking names.
Arjun Singh said, “Abhishek Banerjee has matured a lot. There is a lot of political maturity in him.”
On TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, he said, “I have had relations with her before the inception of TMC.”
On whether he would be resigning from his MP post, he said, “Those asking me to resign should look inside their own homes. There are 2 MPs who won on TMC's ticket and are working for BJP. I will resign and re-win this seat for TMC any day.”
