West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, while announcing financial aid for Durga puja committees, urged organisers to ensure adherence to Covid norms during the celebrations in October.
Faith may be personal but our festivals are universal, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday. She further appealed to the people of the state to follow Covid-19 protocols during the upcoming Durga puja celebrations. Durga puja is scheduled to be held between October 11 and October 15 of this year. With the threat of a third wave of Covid-19 infections looming large, Durga puja committees are wary of going ahead with their plans.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
