
Fact Check: Centre has not announced Supreme Court benches in metros

India Today Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) probed a post that was being circulated with claims that the government has decided to start regional benches of the Supreme Court in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Decentralisation of the Supreme Court and establishing regional benches has been a long-standing demand of several states to tackle pendency of cases in the apex court and make it accessible to poor litigants living in far-flung areas of the country. Now, a post circulating on social media claims the central government has decided to start regional benches of the Supreme Court in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
