Facebook taking advantage of rift, Centre and Delhi govt must work together: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court said on Thursday that Facebook is taking advantage of the political rift between the Centre and the Delhi government.

In a significant observation, the Supreme Court has said Facebook is taking advantage of the political tiffs and litigations between the Centre and the Delhi government. The Supreme Court advised both the governments to work together with the same maturity as shown by voters in choosing two different dispensations at the Centre and in Delhi. The observation was made on Thursday when the Supreme Court upheld the right of the Delhi Assembly's Peace and Harmony Committee to summon officials of Facebook and other social media sites in connection with the use of platform during communal riots in North East Delhi in 2020.
