Speaking to India Today, Rajya Sabha MP Haridwar Dubey said, “Kalyan Singh was instrumental in establishing a strong foundation for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. The convention was successfully organised in April 1988 at the Kothi Meena Bazar ground under the supervision of Kalyan Singh.”
