
Expert panel likely to recommend Russia’s Sputnik Light vaccine for emergency use

Sputnik Light is a one-shot vaccine and a universal booster. It helps the body develop neutralising antibodies against the Omicron variant even after two-three months of being injected.
The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) is slated to hold a meeting to provide emergency use authorisation (EUA) to Russia’s Sputnik Light, the one-shot Covid vaccine, on Tuesday, sources said.
The vaccine maker has submitted data on the efficacy of Sputnik Light. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) earlier said that it submitted data from additional clinical trials to India’s regulator. The company expects the vaccine to be authorised in India soon.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
