Expert Claims Putin’s Mention Of This 1 Issue To Trump Is Clearly A ‘Manipulation’ Tactic

The Russian dictator and the U.S. president sat down for bilateral talks in Alaska last week.
Fiona Hill, who served as a Russia analyst on the National Security Council during Donald Trump’s first term in office, said Sunday on CBS that Vladimir Putin’s decision to push baseless claims against mail-in voting during his summit with the U.S. president is a glaring “manipulation” tactic.
Following his face-to-face talks with Putin in Alaska, Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Putin told him the 2020 election was “rigged” against him because of mail-in voting.
“Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said, ‘You can’t have an honest election with mail-in voting,’” Trump said. “And he said there’s not a country in the world that uses it now.”
The claims, though, don’t stand up to scrutiny. Trump clearly lost the 2020 election to former President Joe Biden, and there has been no evidence to support the Republican president’s continued claims of widespread fraud in that race.
Besides, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance notes that 34 countries allow some form of postal voting, although some have restrictions on which voters can use the method.
