Congress leader Siddaramaiah demanded BJP minister Eshwarappa’s resignation after BJP president Nadda disapproved of his words. Eshwarappa alleged that Congress leader DK Shivakuamr provoked Muslim goons to murder the 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga.

The Congress and Opposition leader in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, said on Tuesday, February 22, that the Karnataka government was directly responsible for what happened in Shivamogga. He said, “Nadda has told a national channel that he doesn't agree with Eshwarappa's statement. I demand he should be dismissed from the government.”

On Tuesday, February 22, MP Renukacharya, a BJP MLA from Honnali, Karnataka alleged that Congress was behind the murder of Harsha. "He was killed because of DK Shivakumar, BK Hariprasad & other Congress leaders. I urge the Home minister to hand over the case to NIA. I will give a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family," he said.

On Monday, BJP minister Eshwarappa had issued a statement alleging that Muslim goons were behind the murder of the 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga. He further accused Congress leader DK Shivakumar of provoking the ‘Muslim goons’.

Harsha, a 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist, was murdered in Shivamogga, Karnataka on Sunday night. CM Basavaraj Bommai asked people to remain calm while the police were investigating. However, protests broke out immediately after the murder and Section 144 had to be imposed in the city.

JP Nadda, Rajya Sabha member and president of BJP, in conversation with India Today TV, said that he had spoken to Eshwarappa over the phone and had chided him for his comments. Congress leaders have demanded that a sedition charge be filed against Eshwarappa and that he be dismissed from the government.

On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said, “Section 144 was imposed in Shivamogga on Sunday night itself. But, the funeral procession happened yesterday. I have condemned the murder and arrests should be made immediately.”
