India Today
In his weekly column in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, MP Sanjay Raut reacted to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent comments on the 1975 Emergency imposed by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
Indira Gandhi was punished for imposing the Emergency and the issue is now "outdated", Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut wrote in party mouthpiece Saamana. A member of the Rajya Sabha, Raut also questioned Rahul Gandhi's decision to express regret over the 1975 Emergency. Targeting former ally BJP, Sanjay Raut went on to say that the Emergency period was better compared to the prevailing situation in the country. Writing in his weekly column 'Rokhthok', Sanjay Raut said that discussion over the 1975 Emergency must be "buried". Former president of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi had termed the Emergency a "mistake" during a recent virtual interaction with Professor Kaushik Basu of the Cornell University. "There is a fundamental difference between what happened in the Emergency, which was wrong, and what is happening now," Rahul Gandhi had said.More Related News
