Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is sounding the alarm on the actions of “wannabe king” Donald Trump.
In a blistering op-ed for Variety, Warren criticized the president and raised pointed questions about CBS’s decision to cancel “The Late Show.”
She speculated whether the move was linked to host Stephen Colbert’s persistent criticism of the president, or his condemnation of Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company, for settling a lawsuit with Trump.
“Was it a coincidence that CBS canceled Colbert just three days after he spoke out?” Warren wrote in the article, published on Wednesday.
“Are we sure that this wasn’t part of a wink-wink deal between the president and a giant corporation that needed something from his administration? If CBS made this decision for ‘purely financial’ reasons, why the timing? And why did Trump say ‘I hope I played a major part in’ getting Colbert fired?”
