
Election Commission seeks views of political parties on holding bypolls

The Election Commission of India has written to national and regional political parties asking them to send their suggestions by the end of this month on the holding of bypolls in the country.
The Election Commission of India (EC) has sent notices to national and regional political parties asking them for suggestions on the bypolls that are slated to happen in the country. The EC's notice states that several guidelines and instructions for campaigning and conducting general elections and bypolls during the Covid-19 pandemic have been issued by the commission already and are available on its website.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
