
Eighteen killed in lightning strikes as heavy rain lashes parts of Uttar Pradesh

Eighteen people were killed in lightning strikes in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The state government has sought a report from local authorities in this regard.
Heavy rain lashed Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, wreaking havoc in different parts of the state. A total of eighteen people were killed in lightning strikes across UP, according to preliminary information. Parts of UP’s Prayagraj also received rainfall where 14 people were killed in separate incidents after being struck by lightning. Six people died in Soraon area, two died in Karchana area, three died in Koraon area, and three more deaths were reported in Bara area of Prayagraj.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
