Downpour inundates streets, damages infrastructure in Madurai city

Sudden rain in Madurai causes minor infrastructure damage, with fire services clearing fallen tree branch from vehicles.
Sudden downpour of rain on Sunday evening in parts of Madurai, in addition to bringing relief to the people from heat, damaged infrastructure.
As rain lashed several parts of the city and rural areas, some of the main roads and arterial roads were inundated with rainwater.
In a residential area – Palaami enclave at Narayanapuram, due to the heavy wind and rain, a tree’s branch fell on a car and two-wheeler parked on the premises.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel who arrived at the spot from Talakullam fire station cleared the tree branch using a power saw.
The personnel said that there was no major damage to the vehicles as it was only a branch.
No injuries were reported in the accident, they added.
