
Dog shot at in Chennai, cops look for assailant

A man in Chennai found out his dog was shot by unknown assailants.
An unidentified person opened fire at a pet dog in Chennai's Sithalapakkam. Sithalapakkam is located in Chennai’s suburbs.
Sreedhar, 37, was in for a shock on March 7 when he took his pet dog to a nearby private veterinary hospital after insistent howling from the pet and was told that the dog was facing an unexpected issue.
The dog was scanned and to everyone’s shock it was revealed that the dog had a bullet lodged at the site of injury. The dog was further treated at a private veterinary hospital in Velachery on March 8 and the bullet was taken out of the body.
On March 9, Sridhar lodged a complaint at the Perumbakkam police station to take action against the person who shot his pet dog. He also handed over the bullet that was taken out of the dog's body to the police station.
Though a complaint has been submitted, a case is yet to be filed by the police officials who have said that preliminary investigations are underway.
Dog beaten by caretaker
In another incident of animal cruelty, it was found that a dog was attacked by a caretaker of a paid boarding centre.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
