A 44-foot monolith flag post that was erected in 1963 in an ancient temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district collapsed when it was being replaced. Luckily, devotees around the flag post escaped unhurt.
Devotees had a miraculous escape when a 40-ton flagpost suddenly collapsed in a temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district on Tuesday, February 22. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The incident took place at Panditivari Palam village in Guntur district. A 44-foot monolith flag post weighing 40 tonnes was being replaced in an ancient temple. The old flag post was erected in 1963.
Devotees were participating in the ritual where the flag post was being replaced with the help of a giant crane. Suddenly, the top part of the flag post broke and the large broken piece fell to the ground, while the remaining part sunk into the original bearing for the flag post.
A new flag post was being prepared to replace the old one. Luckily, devotees standing around the old flagpost, when it collapsed, escaped unhurt.
