
Devastated over minor son’s death, parents kill self in Coimbatore

Sathyaraj and Saranya’s son, Shyam, died of Dengue in December 2021. Upset over this, the parents killed themselves at the house in Coimbatore’s Sulur on Monday, February 21.
Depressed over their 14-year-old son’s death, a couple in Coimbatore hung themselves in their home in Sulur on Monday, February 21.
V Sathyaraj (36) and his wife S Saranya (36) had a son, Shyam (14). He died of Dengue in December 2021. Sathyaraj worked as an operator of a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe machine.
When the couple did not come out of their house on Monday morning, neighbours began knocking on their door. But, there was no response.
When they broke open the doors, they found Sathyaraj hanging from the ceiling and Saranya lying dead on the floor. Sulur police sent the bodies for postmortem to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
Upon investigating, police found out that the couple were Mysore natives and had settled in Sulur 15 years ago. A case has been filed under Section 174 of the CrPC.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
