
Determined to protect maritime interests: Rajnath Singh at Indo-Pacific meet

At the three-day Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the country is "fully determined to protect its maritime interests."
Weighing on the growing challenges in the oceanic waters, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India was “fully determined to protect its maritime interests”. Rajnath Singh emphasised that the nations should uphold the rule-based order as mandated under UN Convention on the Law of Seas (UNCLOS), 1982.
“India is committed to respecting the rights of all nations as laid down in the UN Convention on the Law of Seas [UNCLOS], 1982. We are fully determined to protect the legitimate rights and interests of our country in relation to our territorial waters and Exclusive Economic Zone, while supporting the maintenance of rule-based maritime systems, as mandated under UNCLOS, 1982,” he said.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
