Despite ceasefire announcement, increased police patrolling to continue across Hyderabad

Hyderabad and Cyberabad police intensify patrolling efforts to maintain public confidence amid heightened alert and security concerns.

In a bid to maintain heightened vigilance and reinforce public confidence, police forces across Hyderabad and Cyberabad have intensified patrolling efforts, even as reports emerge of fresh tensions along the northern borders on Saturday (May 10) night, hours after a ceasefire was announced by both countries.

Both commissionerates have rolled out extensive foot and mobile patrolling across key urban and industrial areas. The move comes amid reports of attacks and ambushes in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, with intermittent blackouts still affecting certain northern States as of Saturday night.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand confirmed that visible policing would continue across the city in the days ahead. “We are focused on reassuring citizens through active on-ground presence, particularly during this period of heightened alert,” he said.

Cyberabad, home to the city’s major IT corridor and several prominent institutions, has also witnessed increased patrolling activity over the past two days.

Commissioner Avinash Mohanty noted that the patrolling and public engagement drives will persist. “While there is an understanding in place, the evolving situation elsewhere in the country requires us to remain vigilant. Our teams are engaging with communities directly and virtually to share verified information and ensure calm,” he stated.

Given the vast expanse of the Cyberabad Commissionerate, a combination of foot patrols, vehicle surveillance and digital outreach is being employed. The IT corridor, which employs over a million professionals, is being engaged through video and telephonic communication, in collaboration with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and other forums.

In addition to tech hubs, intensified patrolling is ongoing in densely populated residential neighbourhoods such as Kukatpally, KPHB, Balanagar and Miyapur, as well as in industrial belts like Suraram and Jeedimetla. Awareness programmes focused on public safety are being conducted alongside routine checks.
