The Delhi Commission for Women has identified 14 new tweets depicting sexual activity with children despite directing Twitter to remove all such content depicting child pornography and rape videos of women and children.
Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Swati Maliwal shot a letter to the CBI director seeking his intervention in a matter concerning the availability of child porn and rape videos and photographs on microblogging platform Twitter.
The commission has identified 14 new tweets depicting sexual activity with children despite directing Twitter to remove all such content depicting child pornography and rape videos of women and children. Maliwal asked the CBI director to register an FIR against Twitter and also arrest the criminals involved in circulating the objectionable photos and videos of women and children on the social media platform.

“I am deeply troubled by the continued presence of child pornographic content on Twitter. When we checked Twitter today (Friday), we found 14 such tweets and there appeared to be hundreds of them. In one such tweet which has been viewed 514,000 times, a school girl is shown having sex in her uniform. In another tweet which has been viewed 363,000 times, a ‘mother’ is shown to be having sex with her 8-year-old boy!How can Twitter allow such illegal and filthy content to run on its platform?" asked the DCW chairperson.
On September 20 this year, Maliwal summoned Twitter India Policy Head and Delhi Police's cyber cell after the commission found tweets depicting child pornography and rape videos of women and children on the microblogging platform. Some of the Twitter accounts engaging in these criminal acts appeared to be running a racket, wherein they sought money for providing pornographs and rape videos of children.

In response, Twitter removed more than 20 tweets flagged by the commission from its platform and Delhi Police registered an FIR under sections 67, 67-A and 67-B of the IT Act. The commission termed the response of Twitter in the matter as ‘unsatisfactory’. It gave time to both Twitter and the Delhi Police to file their responses by September 30.
