With parts of the country witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases, Delhi on Friday reported 716 new confirmed cases of infection along with four more virus-related deaths.

The national capital now has 3,165 active cases of infection as per the Delhi government's health department. The last time Delhi's daily tally of new Covid-19 cases crossed the 700-mark was December 27 of last year. Similarly, Delhi's infection rate on December 28 was 0.98 per cent. The same is now 0.93 per cent according to the latest figures.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
