Delhi Police's IFSO unit has unearthed that fraudulent transfers of cryptocurrency were made to al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the banned organisation Hamas.

While investigating a case of cryptocurrency theft, the Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit has unearthed that fraudulent transfers were made to al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the banned organisation Hamas.

A person had filed a complaint that some unknown persons had fraudulently transferred his Bitcoins, Etherum and Bitcoin cash from his cryptocurrency wallet. The cryptocurrency was worth about Rs 30 lakh and its current value was Rs 4.5 crore.

Initially, the case was registered at Paschim Vihar police station but was later transferred to Cyber Crime Unit on court orders.

During the investigation, the cryptocurrency trail led to startling facts. The Delhi Police team, led by DCP IFSO, KPS Malhotra, unearthed that the cryptocurrencies had ended up in wallets maintained by al-Qassam Brigades.

The wallets were already seized by Israel's National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing. The seized wallet belongs to Mohammad Naseer Ibrahim Abdulla.

The other wallets into which a major share of cryptocurrencies have been transferred are being operated from Giza, Egypt. One such wallet belongs to Ahmed Marzooq, a resident of Egypt, while another wallet belongs to Ahmed Q H Safi, a resident of Ramallah, Palestine.
