Delhi Police launched a probe after recovering meat suspected to be beef from a Mahindra truck that was involved in an accident on Saturday.

Swaroop Nagar police station received a PCR call around 7 am today regarding a Bolero LGV carrying suspected beef at Gurudwara Redlight area of the locality.
On reaching the spot, police team saw an overturned Mahindra pick-up and a significant quantity of capsicums scattered on the road. It looked like the green vegetables had burst out of polythene bags. Notably, meat was also strewn on the busy road next to the vehicle.
Police collected the pieces of meat and sent them for forensic examination to a Veterinary Hospital. An investigation was launched but no eyewitnesses came forward at the scene of the accident.
After this, the vehicle was taken into police possession and a case was registered under the Delhi Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act at PS Swaroop Nagar.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the recovered Mahindra truck was registered at Hastinapur in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district. A team has been sent to Meerut to trace the owner of the recovered vehicle and other involved persons.
