The Cybercrime unit of South West Delhi Police arrested a 19-year-old accused who made a fake profile of a girl and shared her pictures and phone number on it.
The Cybercrime team of South West Delhi Police arrested a 19-year-old accused who made a fake profile of a girl and shared her pictures and phone number on it.
The accused was identified as Rohit Arya, a resident of Lajwanti Garden, Delhi.
According to the police, when the girl turned down his offer of friendship, the accused created a fake profile in her name on Facebook. He also shared her photographs on the profile.
On March 21, a complaint was received by the Delhi Police that someone had created a fake Facebook account under the girl’s name. A case was registered in this regard and the police started an investigation.
Through technical surveillance, the location of the accused was tracked and he was arrested.
During the interrogation, Rohit Arya told the police that he had sent a proposal of friendship to the girl, which she turned down. After that, he made a fake profile in the name of the girl and started circulating her photos.
The police also recovered the mobile phone from which the accused used to handle the fake profile.
