Delhi: Girl raped in Dwarka on pretext of offering lift, accused arrested within hours

Delhi police arrested a man for allegedly raping a girl on the pretext of offering her a lift on his two-wheeler on Saturday night. Police arrested the accused within a few hours with the help of technical and manual surveillance.
The Dwarka police in Delhi arrested a man within hours for allegedly raping a girl on the pretext of offering her a lift in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. On late Saturday night, police received a PCR call from Dwarka Sector 23 in which a caller informed the police that he heard the cries of a girl and suspected that she was being raped.
The call was then transferred to a female police officer, Beena, who recorded the statement of the victim. The victim alleged that an unknown person raped her on the pretext of offering her a lift. According to the victim, the accused was a green-coloured electric two-wheeler vehicle. The medical examination of the victim was conducted in which the doctor stated that she was sexually assaulted.
Sub-inspector, Balu Ram, who received the call, reached the spot where the caller had informed him about the sexual assault. Police filed a complaint in this regard and an investigation was launched.
The police team checked the CCTV footage of different cameras installed near the spot from where the complainant took the lift. The cameras installed on other roads were also scanned. After hours of manhunt and checking a lot of CCTV footage, police found a clip in which a green-coloured scooty was spotted in which the complainant was sitting behind the accused.
Further investigation led the police team to Sector 10 in Dwarka and cops found that a certain company used to give such two-wheelers to their employees for delivery purposes. Police scanned various CCTV footage and cracked the case within a few hours. The accused was arrested and a green-coloured scooter was also seized from his possession.
